Headland Touchdown Club
Situation
Webbering was approached by Tommy Parish and K. V. Douglas, representing the new Headland Touchdown Club, to design and host a website for the organization.
Challenge
After meeting with the group to get additional information on their needs, it became clear the they needed a CMS site as well as training support as they wanted to maintain their own content.
Solution
For the original site, we chose Mambo as it had one capability that the 'new'
Joomla
did not have and that was a plug-in for ContentByMail where articles could be submitted by email. This was highly desirable by the key officers in the organization. We added a gallery, guesbook and a customized sports stats module.Update
In August 2008, we migrated the site to
Joomla
which allowed a transition of content without having to re-enter everything.Joomla
was chosen as it was based on the Mambo system but the development team was taking it to the next level. We updated the look to have a better representative look for the Headland Rams Football team. In this transition, the ContentByMail feature was lost due to the plug-in not being updated and other similar extensions were commercial products which the organization preferred to not purchase. However, due to the training we provided, the leadership has had no issues in updating content. We expanded the calendar, added football news RSS feeds and streamlined the navigation for the site. Results
Headland Touchdown Club has a website that meets their needs in providing a central location that it's members can keep track of club activities as well as updates on the football team. Webbering continues to support the site when contacted by the leadership in a timely manner.
