This is a redesign of The Headland Voice.
This is the new website for The Headland Voice that went live in July 2008.
Situation
Lisa Terry with The Headland Voice contacted us to create a website for her newspaper which she had established a few months earlier.
Challenge
A newspaper is not a normal bricks and mortar business as they publish content daily and need to reach a wide range of people with different needs.
Solution
After meeting with Lisa and one of her employes's who would be maintaining the site, we created a website using the
Joomla
CMS application. The nice thing about
Joomla
is that it's publishing administrator page fits right in with the needs of any business that has content to be published daily. As far as the style of the site, Lisa had picked out a template that she liked which we modified to meet her needs. This style has changed as her staff has made their own changes which is just fine with us. After all, this is the clients website and not ours. We are pleased when a client takes a role in how a site looks. As far as the site itself, we added a
frontpage
content display which rotates the top 4 stories for the day as well as added other addons that met their needs.

Chris Fillmore contacted us and wanted to make some minor changes as they did not want to change the overall format of the website. We changed the background from white to a gradient using colors of gray and black. As they wanted a 'premier' advertising banner, we change the logo and added a banner at the top. To the right of the news showcase, we put local weather information. While making changes, we noticed that their sidebar banner images were not standardized to a set width and height so we edited the images to provide a uniform presentation. We changed the navigation and showcase color scheme from a green and orange to a more professional looking dark red and gray.
