Situation

Cindy Marshall has owned and operated The Gathering Place for several years.  The Gathering Place provides facilities and services for weddings, banquets, parties, proms as well as activities for businesses, organizations and individuals.  The Gathering Place has a grand room, private ballroom, dressing rooms, full kitchens, provides accents and accessories as well as optional services.  In January 2010, Cindy contracted with Webbering to provide

website services

to promote her business.

Challenge

In meetings with Cindy, she outlined what she wanted on the site which included extensive galleries of activities that she hosts at The Gathering Place.

Solution

Cindy wanted a simple but elegant layout so she wanted a black color scheme but we convinced her that a darker gray is more suitable for viewing.  Using that as our color scheme, we used a template that she liked and modified it to come up with a style she liked.  We added some muted graphic backgrounds of the business name as well as custom title graphics using a flowing script font.  We setup dynamic category listing pages using images instead of text. Due to the extensive number of photo galleries to show the variety of styles they can provide, we used a tab system with

embedded galleries

including customized pop-up of larger images with they name and slogan at the top of the pop-ups. We added links to local attractions, recreation, community resources, lodging, transportation, restaurants and lounges to provide area information for visitors coming from out of town.  On the home page, we included a rotating slideshow of selected images from each gallery.

The Gathering Place has a

that allows visitors and potential clients to see the wide diversity of activities that they can provide.
