This is the website design for FearlessRider.com.Situation
Heidi A. McLaughlin is an author with a soon-to-be-published book, K.I.C.K. Your Fear of Horses. She wanted a website to provide lead-up content prior to the book release date as well as a site that people with a fear of horses could look to for solutions.
Challenge
Heidi wanted the color scheme and look of the site to reflect a logo that she had designed which would be used for her upcoming book. In addition, there was a need for a blog, experts and gallery pages as she wanted a framework for expanding her website.
Solution
The great thing about a predesigned logo is it gives you some guidance to how the site should look. With the horse graphic and flowing line, we integrated that throughout the site. On some pages, we use the graphic as a content background and on the navigation bar, we used the flowing line as a hover effect. Color decisions was easy as we had our two primary colors of blue and gold based on the logo colors.
As we do for all of our client websites, we digitally enhanced all images including some where we cropped the images for enhanced presentation. We used the logo name as a header for all gallery popups but stayed with the white background. Sometimes in our zeal to show off our skills, the results are not as clean looking as going with some basic colors. Our changes for the popup with a blue background and white text simply did not look as good as that 'old' standard white so that's what we used.
Although most of the site is complete, some parts will be in constant change such as the blog. Heidi will be adding content to this based on her experiences so be sure to check back every now and then.
Result
Heidi's FearlessRider.com website provides her with a site that can serve her needs for years to come.
